ART ON 12TH, a CREATIVE DREAM COME TRUE

I want to share my enjoyment at being a part of an artistic vision that is Art on 12th, in a community which has come a long way toward recognizing creative art’s value and potential for touching and changing lives. Most in Lynchburg are aware that the Art Box moved to the 12th Street storefront in The Old Steam Bakery in 2009, but many still don’t know that there are several local artists, including myself, in studios above the art supply store. Art on 12th is the fulfillment of a vision of Art Box storeowner and artist, Ann Ganong Novak. With her newlywed husband, Raleigh Novak, Anne brought her dreams to life providing a wonderful space for local artists to create and display their works.  Last April, we invited family, friends and fellow artists to enjoy the space with us in special celebration. We just had to show off our lovely studios and the superb craftsmanship that brings life to a once discarded and aging landmark. Artists, Larry Beatty, David Eakin, Cheryl Hawkins, Duane Nelligan, Purnell Pettyjohn, Christine Rooney, Amanda Sandos Claudia Stubstad, Tica Sydnor, and myself, Terri Miller, have found a home away from home where we can create and hone our skills, share with each other, host classes, and display our works. I am happy to be a part of the Lynchburg arts community, but even more, a part of Art on 12th and Anne and Raleigh’s ever expanding visions of providing a place for people to explore and enjoy all forms of creative expression.
