Artist: Amanda C. Sandos

Amanda is a native of Virginia, born in Norfolk. She lives on her family homestead in Forest, a farm bought by her relatives before the Civil War. She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman’s College where she majored in Studio Art and Creative Writing. Before returning to RMWC, she attended Santa Fe Community College Teaching Zoo in Gainesville, Florida, and worked as a professional zookeeper for eighteen years
Artistic honors include second place for photography in the 2008 National Women’s Art Show and second place for watercolor in the Rockbridge Regional Art Show, both juried shows. Amanda has shown her work at the Maier Museum of Art, where she was also honored with a one year paid internship. She was given her first solo show at the Mezzanine Gallery in 2008 and shows her work regularly at Light Wings Gallery on Belmont Avenue in Lynchburg. She accepts commissions for jewelry, paintings, and photography, and also runs professional sitting service in the area called Zoo Crew Pet Care.
